What is your Faith in?

here Jeremiah starts the chapter declaring

This is what the LORD says:
“See, I will stir up the spirit of a destroyer
against Babylon and the people of Leb Kamai.

As I continued through the rest of the chapter Two verses in particular stood out as I read.

“Everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed by his idols. The images he makes are a fraud; they have no breath in them.

They are worthless, the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish”. Jeremiah 51:17-18 (NIV)

This came into my spirit, the fall of Babylon came because their faith was in idols instead of God! A common theme throughout the bible, involving the idolising of one’s own self, power, wealth/ riches, carved or foreign images or statues.

It reminds me of one of the saddest verses

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” Mark 8:36-37

Here you may be saying well my soul is secure for I have given my life to Jesus, yes this could be true so let’s rephrase this question from Jesus to be as He said it to the rich young ruler:

“If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor,

and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me”

Matthew 19:21

One morning the Lord directed me to Jeremiah 51

If you’re saved you may not lose your soul by having idols in your life, yet you could be losing two very precious things that are eternal: being complete in this world and storing up riches in the next Heaven.

So as we are at the start of a new year , a time when many make new year resolutions! Can I encourage you to make a Covenant resolution straight out of the word of God.

“Get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just … putting aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us”. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Simply what Jesus was asking the rich young ruler to do in the above Matthew verse and what I believe He is inviting as all to do today.

Will you declare this next year 2023 will be Ephesians 3:20 for you?

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us”

Ephesians 3:20

Challenge Time:

1. Ask the Lord to reveal the idols in your life, then write them down

2. The next step is yours, if you want to lay these down then the Lord has a reward for you!   SayFather I choose to lay down this idol…….. what are You going to give me in return? Write down what He says

3. Now say I choose to lay down the idol of ………. And instead pick up what You have shown me……… Amen and I plead the Blood on Jesus in and over that area of my life! Amen

4. If you have any more idols please repeat steps 2 and 3

5. Lastly Thank the Lord and ask Him for protection as your enter this new year

Father thank You Lord for cleansing Your children today, setting them free from the bondage and ensnared restrictions that the enemy had placed in front of them.Lord we ask that You would release Ephesians 3:20 over this year ahead of them 2023. In Jesus special name. Amen
