The Lord wants us to reveal Himself through us!
Wow! Did you know that you’re in the right place, where you’re meant to be, at the right time in your life, equipped with the right skills, talents and provision for God to use you as you are.
Let that sink in, you are exactly where you are meant to be, equipped with all the skills, talents and provision needed for God to use you as you are.
However your qualifications, skills, talents and abilities do not come to you because of what you know, what you’ve studied or what you’ve learned. But are totally because of who we know and therefore whose we are.
Remember you were created for a purpose, a time and a reason. That is simply to be in relationship, bring Him glory and be His glory, making God known to everyone you meet and everywhere you go.
What you don’t have or know is not a hindrance or a limitation, but actually is an advantage. Sounds upside down thinking doesn’t it? Bear with me as we look at this verse, and ask the Holy Spirit to give revelation and insight to you.
1 Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV)
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty”
Wow did you see it? For the Lord uses the weak to confound or confuse the wise.
Well, why you might say? Here’s a thought if you know it, and can do it in your own strength, then where is the partnership or relationship with Him. For example you’ve been asked to create a gluten and dairy free cake to feed a beautiful local family in need. What you know is that you are not a baker by passion or regular shopper of gluten and dairy free items so it’s all new and a challenge to you. Here you have a choice, do you race ahead, turn up at the shop after briefly looking at a recipe and think yep, I know what kind of items to buy to produce this cake for the family, or do you slow down and sit with God and say I’m way out of my depth and comfort here where do I start? I need Your wisdom, will you lead me and help me Holy Spirit? I know I would choose option 2, because it’s not a task that my natural skills, talents and abilities can ace, so therefore it’s not in my strength and power to succeed on my own, I need to rely and hear from Him step by step wisdom how to do this.
In this example there are things you can do that bring honour to God and reveal Him to others. They would be your saying yes to creating this cake, your kindness to caring there’s a need and wanting to help, your willingness to buy additional and special ingredients and let’s be honest spend the cost needed. These are all things that you know and do that bring honour to God and reveal Him through the attitude, words, actions and character you show to others.
BUT it is only through the things you that can’t do, don’t know, and feel WOAH I’m way out of my depth and desperately need you God to come through for me, these are the moments when He gets the Glory!
Back to our example think about how God gets the Glory in option 2 there are so many ways.
Now let’s look at the market place, work place or church where we are called to be in the world not of the world. These places are full of competency tests, which tell you what your strengths or elite gifts are (top 3), and what your weaknesses or challenges are (top 3).
The issue with only focusing or narrowing in on these elite gifts and talents is that they limit and put a cap on the new level that God is wanting to do, show and deposit in us. In other words it deprives us from the level of glory we so desire to see, release and be partakers of in Him and by Him.
So let’s leave it there, grab your notebook and a quiet space to be with the Lord and ask Him the following and write down what He reveals in answer to you.
Remember it says in Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask, and it will be given to you, seek and you will find: knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” NKJV
“Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door” TPT
Invitation big time, let’s go.
1. Lord what elite gifts are mine? How do I do them in a way that honours You and
reveals You in greater ways, through my actions, words, and attitudes?
2. Lord what gifts are mine that I can’t do without You, that reveal You?
3. It’s time! Step up and out in faith and do these things in partnership with Him and in Him.
4. Lord would you reveal all You have for me to do with you? Help me to surrender, ponder, mediate, pray and wait patiently for You to do all You purposed through me. Read Luke 2 – and see how Mary did just this.
5. Continually give thanks to the Lord for all He has shown you and will show you.
Father we love you. Thank you for all You do and are waiting to do through us. We are amazed that You are crying out to reveal Yourself through us Your sons and daughters, and through signs and wonders in the earth. We declare You will be glorified. In Jesus name. Amen
