Reset, Recalibrate, Refocus

As I was sitting and chatting with an amazing friend of mine a few months . A word came to me which I believe is relevant and important to the wider body Christ right now.

It was this: Are we taking time out to RESET, REFOCUS, & RECALIBRATE? What I mean is, are we stopping to recalibrate our course, so that we end up at the destination the Lord has prepared for us and we so desire to reach?

Whether we are in a car, boat or plane most of the time we are off course or off a direct course. Due to road, weather, wind direction, flight paths etc they stop us taking a direct route. Whether we are driving, flying or sailing most of time we are only going in the general direct to the destination but not on point.

I believe this is true in our walk and journey with Lord to the spiritual, physical, mental or emotional destination that if we don’t keep continually re-calibrating,

re- focusing, and re-checking our bearings we can so easily miss a turn, the wind pattern etc. Meaning that it will take us take longer to get to the destination, or we may not arrive at all. This is what we see with the Israelites (in the books Genesis, Exodus and Joshua).

God first made the promise to Abraham (Genesis 15:18–21): … He later confirmed the promise to Abraham’s son Isaac (Genesis 26:3), and then to Isaac’s son Jacob (Genesis 28:13). The Book of Exodus describes the Promised Land in terms of the territory from the River of Egypt to the Euphrates river (Exodus 23:31) The Israelites started their journey to the promised land in Exodus 12:51 and Joshua entered inthe promised land in Joshua 3

The Israelites left Egypt on way to the promised land, a journey that should have taken 40 days. But due to losing their focus and direction their journey took so much longer, a whole generation was lost on the way. We read this story with dismay and raise questions and comment around it like:

What happened to these people? How did they muck up so badly? Or we think we could have done better. But could or would we? And are we doing better on the path the Lord has given us to the promise land?

The promised land being a place that all His promises over our life are fulfilled. Interesting thought aye?

This is where I think the thought of continually re calibrating, refocusing is so crucial. For in doing this, we will NOT WASTE TIME, and will ARRIVE WITH EVERYTHING WE NEED and ON TIME.

The question becomes how do we do this?

In a car, boat or plane they cannot stop so re-calibration has to be done on the journey. This is somewhat the same for us as we journey to the promised land. But WE CAN TAKE TIME OUT, to review, revisit, mediate, pull out the words and promises from the Lord.

To HOLD THEM UP TO HIM & ASK HIM if we are on track, and if there are any adjustments we need to make -physically, spiritually or mentally.

The meaning of re-calibrating is: to make small changes to an instrument so it measures accurately-to change the way you do or think about something: You need to recalibrate your expectations.

If we took this on board and did it would we would see an acceleration in movement? or a deeper conviction in life?

Challenge Time:1. Be deliberate to time out with the Lord to re-focus and re-calibrate yourself and your life.2. Pull out all the WORDS & PROMISES He has spoken over your life

 3. Now with each word or promise hold it up to Him in prayer! Maybe say Father God you promised or You gave me this word (if you have the date and time include) today I ask that You will show me if I am OFF COURSE or ON COURSE with it?

 4. If He says on course then ask Him is there is anything you can do to improve your journey? Write down what he says and talk with him on how you may apply these things.

 5. If He says your off course DON’T GET DISCOURAGED! We can all end up here and often do. But He can reset the GPS and re-direct us back on course. Ask Him how to do this? Maybe say a prayer like Father God I give you the direction I was going towards this promise you have for me. What are going to give me in return?

 6. Now it’s choice time you can keep the old direction or reset your live journey back on course. 7. If you want the new way say Father God I choose to lay down the old route and pick up instead the new route You have for me to my promise or word being competed. Thank you Father Amen8. Repeat step 1-5 with all the promises and words He has given you9. GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

Father, thank You for this important word and message in season. Help us all to continually re-focus and re-calibrate so we can see and enter into the promisedland You have prepared for us. In Jesus name. Amen
