Wow what a series ! Never ever thought I would share this. But since I have written it by His leading. I suddenly realised, how little is understood about the role of a prophet.
Today I want to conclude this series, with a common mistake I have witnessed, personally. When applying or working with the 5 fold ministry in our local church. When I approached the subject with the Lord. The Lord showed me, this was because of a lack of knowledge of the roles, how they work and what they are for !
Let me explain !
Me and my wife often visited a church, I would be ask by members to interpret dreams, the Lord would allow me to do this. But one day I found out that the pastor had told his members if they have dreams to wait until I came and I would interpret their dreams for them. The sad thing was I never was informed or asked and had not excepted this responsibility.
We did not go there every week, my thought was why would this pastor do this ! Yes He knew I was a prophet and would introduce me as one, But sadly He did not understand the role of a prophet.
It is not to do the ministry foremost, although this can be part especially in teaching, equipping people or when the call arises. But the prophet role is equip the saints for their ministries, as it is for all the roles of the five fold. Often we see burn out in all the roles of the five fold ministry ! The reason why is simply, they are doing the work the Lord never assigned for them.
The Lord showed me this very important statement of revelation one morning ! If an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor or teacher is equipping the saints for their ministry they will not burn out for the scriptures say
2 Corinthians 9:8
Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything —every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.
Ephesians 4:7
The Grace-Gifts of Christ
And he has generously given each one of us supernatural grace, according to the size of the gift of Christ.
But if they (the ones with the roles of the 5 fold ministry) are trying to do the ministry of others, they will not have the right grace and hence this can lead to burn out of these key individuals. Or simply them laying down their roles and walking away discouraged.
Then the foundations of the five fold ministry is lost and you end up with a church without the grace of the apostolic, prophetic,evangelistic, pastoral and teaching. In this state the church is like a wounded soldier. He has the heart to fight, but his body is not up for it or has the strength. Maybe this is why it seems so hard for churches, to adopted this culture of the five fold.
Everyday for me is still a learning ground to discovery Him more, His ways,His thoughts, what is on His heart. So I can be the best witness of Him through the role/office He has appointed me in. So I can in turn be used in confidence through Him to connect what I call the direct phone line between Him and others. So they can hear Him, themselves and form deep meaningful relationships with Him.
This was the Fathers original heart cry, but like the Israelite’s said to “Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen (Exodus 20:19). But do not have God speak to us or we will die.”
Fear has led many away from being able to hear the Lord themself and have confidence it is Him. This is where a prophet’s grace, is vitally important and is most effective. To help people rediscover the way or how the Father is speaking to them. For He has never stopped speaking, But the challenge is learning how to turn our ear and hear.
Often this starts by helping people to discover how the Father is speaking to them individually one to one.
For as Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 12 we are each a part of the body of Christ and I have discovered that He speaks to each part in a variety of ways.
My overall joy of the role of a prophet is equipping the saints for their ministry and watching them grow in strength and wisdom from His word and then leading others to relationship with Jesus as they operate within their chosen fields and callings the Lord has appointed them into.
There is so much I could share, impart or teach. Next year (2024), I am hoping to run a school of the prophets in the new building He has asked us to build. This way, we can go deeper and help others in the same role to be more effective in their work and ministries.
Father I long for the days as is says in Ephesians 4:13 (NIV) .. we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Father help us all to embrace in unity the ones you have chosen, Apostles,prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers. So as you promise we can have the whole measure of the fullness of Christ in our local churches amen.
