Last time we started with this the incredible illustration to the word – bible, along with the thought If Jesus is the word and the word is the scriptures, then my friend (Jesus) must be calling me to say hi and share some amazing revelation! And we looked at it through the prophet Zechariah now let’s keep going and look through the story of Solomon, King Solomon.
As a prophet my role as per Ephesians 4:10 is to equip the saints for ministry! So I want to share today how to see and understand more. I want to start this with revelation and a question, when you see what the Lord is doing or a dream/vision how do you see? And how would you describe it if asked to?
Seeing and describing are what Zechariah did, yet they did not lead him to the revelation of what, why and how. But I believe if He had looked from another perspective he could have, otherwise the angel would not have said “Do you not know what these are?”
To be able to do this we need to find a key in the verse of a story told of one of the wisest, and richest man who ever lived. King Solomon!
Let’s read part of the story or testimony of him
1 Kings 3:1-13
(2 Chronicles 1-11)
“At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.”
Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
“Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honour—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings”.
The line to observe is what the Lord gave Solomon “I will give you a wise and discerning heart”
This very thing is what will allow us to move from just seeing and describing what we are seeing, to the fullness of what we are seeing, what it is for and what to do with it. Effective heavenly perspective on earth, part of the prayer Jesus taught His disciple “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt 6:10).
Secondly useless we know what it is for and how to use it, then it’s like having a full bank account and nothing to invest it in, and slowly lose value! The Lord addresses this in His words to Solomon. But for discernment in administering justice, not judgement! For we are never called to do this. Even Jesus who could have (for His is a true Judge) laid it down for later day.
Let’s leave it there and next time we will go into how we can all apply this to see and receive the gift Solomon got and how to use it!
Challenge Time: (Grab your journal and space to record what the Lord says)
Your challenge this week is simply to Resight , read or declare this verse below ! In doing so I believe and pray your mind will come into the understanding of your worth – How valuable you are ! As the word stays. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
Here is your Prayer to relight, declare and decree
Oh Father how beautiful on the mountains
are the sandaled feet of this one bringing such good news.
You are truly royalty!
The way you walk so gracefully in my ways
displays such dignity.
You are truly the poetry of God—his very handiwork.
Out of your innermost being
is flowing the fullness of my Spirit—
never failing to satisfy.
Within your womb there is a birthing of harvest wheat;
they are the sons and daughters
nurtured by the purity you impart.
How gracious you have become! Amen Song of Songs 7:1-2 (TPT)
