Welcome back to part two of our series How to see His miracles of power, release through you.
Let’s recap from our last part.
We started with an intriguing question.
Did Jesus turn water into wine ?
To find the answer we read through the story and account of this miracle in John 2. with the above question and another one in mind.
So when did the water become wine ?
We discovered the answer to the first question was yes found in
John 2:11
This miracle in Cana was the first of the many extraordinary miracles Jesus performed in Galilee.…….
And the second question was ‘when they poured out their pitcher for the master of ceremonies to sample, the water became wine! ‘ John 2:9
This led us to 4 more questions
1. Did Jesus lay hands on the servers ?
2. Did Jesus lay hands on and bless the six stone water pots ?
3. Did Jesus put His hands in the water ?
4. Was there any mention of giving the Father thanks or Jesus praying for the water to become wine ?
We found that Jesus did not do any of these things above. Things we might expect required. Yet the water turned in to wine !
We finished with an interesting answer to how Jesus turned the water into wine. Found in a conversation between Jesus and Phillip in John 14:10.
Lets read it
Jesus replied, “Philip, I’ve been with you all this time and you still don’t know who I am? How could you ask me to show you the Father, for anyone who has looked at me has seen the Father. Don’t you believe that the Father is living in me and that I am living in the Father? Even my words are not my own but come from my Father, for he lives in me and performs his miracles of power through me.
I concluded the message with this thought. I believe the key to the miracle of seeing water turn into wine. Was simply Jesus hearing the Father’s words and passing them on to the servers.
“Jesus came to the servers and told them, “Fill the pots with water, right up to the very brim.” Then he said, “Now fill your pitchers and take them to the master of ceremonies.”
He knew that according to the scripture.
Isaiah 55:11
So also will be the word that I speak;
it does not return to me unfulfilled.
My word performs my purpose
and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish.”
So the Fathers words through Jesus, were like a map or set of instructions straight from the Father !
When followed by the servers, they started a journey to completion of water becoming wine. So what Jesus did here ! We can do also ! I love this miracle, as what was impossible, became possible and happened by simplicity, not a complicated model.
Today we are going to look at, why Jesus’s secret to hearing the Fathers voice is so important to us. Especially if we want to see miracles, happen in our life’s and ministries.
So let’s start by reading about another miracle Jesus did.
In Mark 9 we see a father desperate to see His son healed, he has brought his son to the disciples and they could not heal him.
So how could it be that the most powerful, spirit filled people apart from Jesus. The ones that Jesus had anointed to cast out demon’s and heal the sick, could not heal this boy?
I want you to think about Jesus’s miracle of turning water into wine and how he did it as you read this story.
Mark 9:17-25
Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”
Now re read the above scripture, with these questions in mind.
1. What did the father of the boys say was wrong with him ?
2. What did Jesus cast out ?
3. Are they the say thing ?
Ok so the father said his son had a mute spirit and Jesus cast out a Deaf and Dumb spirit.
I believe the disciples were trying to cast out, what the father said was wrong with his son. But you cannot cast out or heal something that is not there, so the boy was not healed.
While Jesus did what His Father told him to do and the boy was healed.
This is an amazing lesson for us, especially if we want to see more miracles !
Let’s leave it there for today ! Next time we will look at how and when Jesus learnt, to hear His Father like this in any situation. Also how we can too.
Challenge time
- Take sometime to worship the Lord.
- Ask The Father ‘this question ‘Father how do I see me ?’ Write down the answer, include, scriptures, words, pictures etc
- Then ask the Father this question ‘Father please show me, how you see me ?’ write down what you see, once again include words pictures etc.
- Which of the two things you have written down, do you want to see yourself as ? Which one do you want to be and believe you are ?
- If it’s the current way you see ourself, then that’s ok, But if it’s how He revealed He see’s you . The say “Father I choose today to lay down, how I see myself……………. (Say what this was, what you wrote down ) and I choose to pick up instead Father. How You see me ………….. (Say what you saw , what you wrote down ). Thank you Father Amen.
Father I thank you for this message, as Your Majesty brings clarity, to Your will and purposes for our life. So we can, co labour with You, also see You perform Your miracles of power, through us . We give You all the Glory Amen
