Dreams – Do they Reveal Godly Secrets? Intro

Dreams are an unknown for many people, Sometimes can be troubling or terrifying yet for others can be amazing. So since I really feel/care for all people, it’s time to go there and talk about dreams.

Have you ever had a dream of falling of a high place, cliff or building, felt yourself falling and woken suddenly before you hit the bottom/ground?

Well I have and I’m sure many have, waking puffing with the thought thanking God it was not real or reality BUT HALLELUJAH only a dream. Or maybe a compromisingsituation where you were tempted into or even dying/death you or someone else. All these situations in dreams can be very alarming especially when held against scriptures like

Job 33:14-17 (NIV)

“For God does speak —now one way, now another —

though no one perceives it.

In a dream, in a vision of the night,

when deep sleep falls on people

as they slumber in their beds,

He may speak in their ears

and terrify them with warnings,

to turn them from wrongdoing

and keep them from pride”.

However if we are looking through the lens of scripture we see the Lord revealing His plans through dreams.

What about Joseph? Who through interpretation of pharaoh’s dream of calves and wheat, is freed from prison, promoted to prime minister, helps save a generation and reconciled with his family

Or Daniel who through interpretation of Pharoah’sdream is a point at head of all the sources and magicians.

Now those of you that are catholic may have read this in the book of Esther from the Bible, and it’s an interesting read for those of you, not Catholic

Esther 1 – Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition

Mordecai’s Dream

11 [a]2 In the second year of the reign of Ahasu-e′rus[b] the Great, on the first day of Nisan, Mor′decai the son of Ja′ir, son of Shim′e-i, son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, had a dream. 3 He was a Jew, dwelling in the city of Susa, a great man, serving in the court of the king. 4 He was one of the captives whom Nebuchadnez′zar king of Babylon had brought from Jerusalem with Jeconi′ah king of Judea. And this was his dream:

5 Behold, noise[c] and confusion, thunders and earthquake, tumult upon the earth! 6 And behold, two great dragons came forward, both ready to fight, and they roared terribly. 7 And at their roaring every nation prepared for war, to fight against the nation of the righteous. 8 And behold, a day of darkness and gloom, tribulation and distress, affliction and great tumult upon the earth! 9 And the whole righteous nation was troubled; they feared the evils that threatened them, and were ready to perish. 10 Then they cried to God; and from their cry, as though from a tiny spring, there came a great river, with abundant water; 11 light came, and the sun rose, and the lowly were exalted and consumed those held in honour.

12 Mor′decai saw in this dream what God had determined to do, and after he awoke he had it on his mind and sought all day to understand it in every detail”.

Esther 10:4-9 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition.

4 And Mor′decai said, “These things have come from God. For I remember the dream that I had concerning these matters, and none of them has failed to be fulfilled. 6 The tiny spring which became a river, and there was light and the sun and abundant water—the river is Esther, whom the king married and made queen. The two dragons are Haman and myself. 8 The nations are those that gathered to destroy the name of the Jews. 9 And my nation, this is Israel, who cried out to God and were saved. The Lord has saved his people; the Lord has delivered us from all these evils; God has done great signs and wonders, which have not occurred among the nations.

Ok the why, why do I mention these?

Simply to draw your attention to the fact that the Lord uses dreams to speak to us. But like with all things the Lord does, the enemy is always trying to copy or replicate to detour us off the path appointed for us to walk on.

So how do we know which dreams are from the Lord? Or from the enemy? or just two much cheese from dinner last night?

My intent is 2 fold through this series: to help simplify interpretations of dreams, and to equip people for their ministries. Join me as we lean into the Lord and Holy Spirit for the keys to interpreting our own dreams, and possibly helping others with theirs.

Let’s pause here and pray:

Father God we love You, we love to be with You. Right now we give You permission Holy Spirit to open our whole hearts and mind to You. We invite You to come in and speak to us about our dreams, to calm our fears, and racing thoughts, and breathe Your Peace into us that we so desperately need and hunger for.

We believe that during this series You are going to equip us with the ‘keys’ and gems needed to interpret and understand what You are saying through dreams, and help others do the same. As it’s always not revelation just for us but for another on their journey. We give You all the Glory and Praise. Hallelujah, In Jesus name. Amen.
