TESTIMONY, ‘Learning from Adaption’
A few years ago I was teaching at a Pastors Retreat and learnt a valuable key to spending time with the Lord. I was doing a session on, ‘waiting on the Lord’ and I happened to run a longer than normal worship session. One of the Pastor’s feedback on the session was, that it was good but the worship session was too long. He concluded, ‘I simply switch off’ (beyond a certain point). The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me and I asked him this compelling question. ‘Do you think that instead of switching off you could have switched into’. ‘As this new expression or place you had entered was new it seemed you had to switch off, as the enemy would have you think’?I suggested that the next time he felt in the same predicament, simply stop, look and listen to this new experience or place you have entered.
During the weekend we must have had another long worship session because at the end of the weekend this Pastor shared an amazing testimony of his life being changed. He shared how when he had the same desire to switch off, he instead stopped, pressed in, looked and listened. He found that he indeed didn’t switch off but switched into something amazing. This testimony grew even more as later he shared with me he could now worship with his wife and his life and marriage were enhanced and greatly blessed !
You see worship or time with the Lord is not limited to one song, one scripture and one prayer. Worship or time with the Lord can be walking, running, driving in fact anything you love to do can be worship as long as your heart, ear and mind are on Him. This has been my secret to spending extended time with the Lord. I have just come out of a season of ; on a weekly basis, spending a day with the Lord and many 24hour sessions with Him. CP.
