It’s better to try and fail than never try at all

As I was meditating and praying this morning, a phrase came into my spirit. ‘It’s better to try and fail than never try at all’. This phrase is the title of a poem by William F O’Brien below;

Some say risk nothing, try only for the sure thing,
Others say nothing gambled nothing gained,
Go all out for your dream.
Life can be lived either way but for me,
I’d rather try and fail than never try at all, you see.

Some say “Don’t ever fall in love,
Play the game of life wide open,
Burn your candle at both ends.”
But I say “No! It’s better to have loved and lost,
Than never to have loved at all, my friend.”

When many moons have gone by,
And you are alone with your dreams of yesteryear,
All your memories will bring you cheer.
You’ll be satisfied, succeed or fail, win or lose,
Knowing the right path you did choose.
by William F. O’Brien

I love the four main points in this poem;1. It’s better to try and fail than never try at all 2. It's better to have loved and lost, Than never to have loved at all 3. You'll be satisfied, succeed or fail, win or lose, Knowing the right path you did choose. 4. If you do these All your memories will bring you to joy.

What incredible, powerful statements!

As we look back over some of the amazing men and woman in the bible like Moses, Joshua, Esther, Mary, and Jesus. These powerful statements are reflected and foundational in their lives as they never gave up. Love was at the centre of all they did and were never afraid to Love. If they were to reflect over their lives it would be clear that they choose the right path. All their memories bring them joy and testify that all things are possible with God.

I wonder if we look back over our own lives would it be the same?

As I reflect on my own life I can see improvements needed at every point.

We do not own our past as it is covered with the blood of Jesus Christ.

Today I believe the Lord is inviting us to make changes for a greater tomorrow.

My challenge for you today is to read this poem and reflect on these points with the Lord.

I believe within these statements are keys to an amazing future awaiting you.

Father, I thank you for your word today. Please help us all to grow through your leadings and challenges. Amen!
