The Lord is all knowing But, Chooses to not See all.

Umm really you go? I know God knows all things, as He created them, but yes He sees all things too, right? Curious? Then let’s keep reading for revelation, because this statement if truely understood in itself, can unlock a remarkable freedom.
I want to start here with this verse that is often overlooked and deemed not very important tucked into the middle of a busy chapter title, often called ‘The Fall of Man’. I propose this verse early in the Bible is super important to us truely knowing our Father. For if we don’t understand the truth and revelation of this verse, then we will have a misinformed view of who our Father is.
For many years of my life, I had thought the Lord was looking over my shoulder, sitting in the dark places of my life, waiting to tell me off and punish me. Can you relate? BUT here’s the truth and reality we need to hear and receive. He is not at like that all.
Think for a minute about how you know and describe your Father and the relationship you have with Him.

Now let’s read the verse.
Genesis 3:9 (NIV)
But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
Wondering time… God have you lost Adam? Hang on though as we know God knows all, nothing surprises Him, and He misses nothing. Remember Matthew 10:30 says we have a God that knows even the very number of hairs on your head. So it can’t be that, God what do You mean?
These phrases ‘all knowing’ and ‘sees everything’, have a vast difference between them. All knowing means your nature is known, who He created you to be, and being with you 24hrs a day to give help, encouragement, wisdom, guidance etc
Joshua 1:5 (NIV)
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you”.

All seeing would be like being in everyones thoughts patterns, decisions, BUT also having access to all the faults, mistakes and failures from every part of our lives, and then on top of that they are like a dictator who exposes everything and anything no matter when, where, or the cost.

Does this sound like your Lord? Thankfully No our Lord is not like this. This trait of all seeing is a characteristic of the devil not God. So why is that?
Because the Lord knows that in a relationship centred in Love and surrounded by freedom there has to be a remarkable thing ‘freedom of choice’! Did you get that? We when grounded and rooted in Love, and surrounded by Freedom, are allowed a choice. We are free to choose. The Lord in His love and wisdom chooses to be all knowing, but to personally not see all. It’s in this place He allows us to be the one to give Him permission, or not, to enter these parts of our lives/hearts.

Now we have covered this Character of our Amazing Father. We can see it in a working scenario in the introductory scripture

Genesis 3:9 (NIV
But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
The Lord had not lost Adam but chose not to see him, allowing Adam the invitation to expose the sin he had committed, and allow the Father in, to help mend and repair his life. But we know in the very next verse Adam instead exposes an inner lie (wrapped in fear) and an external lie (blaming Eve). Now don’t be too hard of Adam and Eve, for the Scriptures say we all fall short (Romans 3:23) and Jesus said that those without sin can throw the first stone (John 8:7). So yes we have all done similar, believed and exposed inner and external lies to man and God right?
Here’s the take away, there will always be and are times in our life when we will muck up, but if we choose to hold them and bury them, then they will lead us out of God’s promises and plans of an amazing relationship with our true Father. However if we do as David did in (Psalm 139:23-24) and allow the Father to see our inner hurts, pains, disappoints, failure and sin. Then through a heart that chooses to repent, restoration of all things, will come and is promised by our Lord! Hallelujah, I don’t know about you but I’m hanging out here that as we choose to repent, restoration will come to our lives.

I often wonder if Adam and Eve had done this, and gone to God allowing Him to see and heal their inner hurts, wounds, and failures, would their story read differently? I’ll leave that with you to ask God about, and listen to Him share His thoughts with you.
Challenge Time: Grab space with the Lord, your journal, and wait on Him for the answers that you write down.

  1. Are you willing? It’s time to pray a prayer like David did to open up all areas of your life and heart to God! Remember you have a choice!
  2. If Yes, here is a prayer to use. Father God I ask for You to SEARCH me, my heart and mind, TEST me and KNOW my anxious thoughts. SEE if there is any offensive way in me, hurts or unforgiveness or sin within me and REVEAL it to me ?
  3. With each point He gave ask this question. Father God I give You ………..(read out the point He spoke to you) what will You give me in return? Write down what He will give you.
  4. Choice time! If you want me to replace it say Father I choose to reveal……….. (what the point is ) and lay it down to you and take responsibility for it. I receive in Return ….,,,,,,,,(what He showed you He would give you in return)
  5. Repeat for all the points He revealed to you.
  6. Praise Him! Give thanks, dance, put on worship, sing worship or praise for today you are and have been recreated as spoken about in Romans 12:2 transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  7. Father thank You for You are the Way and the Truth and the light to us seeing transformation in our lives. We give you all the praise and glory. In Jesus Name Amen
