A few weeks back I was visiting a local church and during the worship ! I heard these words in the spirit. ‘The spirit of the Lord is upon me’ I knew this was the opening line from Isaiah 61. As this was the blueprint scripture given to us, 7 years ago for Encounter Centre. So my first thought was this could be a prophetic word for the church. So said to the lord if it is, open up a time for me to share it and I will. But this did not happen, so I pressed in even more to Him and listened.
The Lord next took me to another part of scripture that not only shares these words and the same prophecy. But also sees this Scripture fulfilled.
lets read it !
Luke 4:16-21
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
(Matt. 13:54–58; Mark 6:1–6)
So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”
Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
This was Jesus’s public declaration of who He was, also what and why, He was here !
Did you notice this scripture, started with the source of the provision ‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me’
Then followed by how it would happen ‘Because He has anointed Me’
These verses conclude with a list of what the above would accomplish through Jesus.
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”
So can you answer the following question !
The Spirit of the LORD is upon me,
Because He has anointed me
To ……..?
Although many, if not all, of Jesus’s list should be included in our lists if we were to answer this question. As the great commission in Matthew 28:16-20 highlight’s this !
But in Jesus case, the spirit came upon Him and the Father anointed Him, to fulfil a key role, tasks and purpose !
So if the spirit of the Lord is upon you and He has anointed you too.
What is your key role, tasks and purpose ?
This is also called your identity and once this is revealed and fully understood. Your view of your life will be seen from a completely new prospective forever.
As it was with Jesus, He was given everything needed to complete His list by the Father. So He completed everything on His list !
So it is the same for you too. The Father will give you everything you need, to accomplish everything on your list.
But as it was with Jesus, it is the same with you.
The choice is yours !
As the Father will never cross the line of freewill.
So how do we know what’s on our list’s ?
What our key role, tasks and purpose ?
- First we need to put aside all the things, we currently know how to do.
- Also choose to lay down, all the things we currently have the ability to do.
- Lastly, we need to choose to surrender all the things, we have the skills or qualifications to do.
As your key role, tasks and purpose is assigned from Heaven. Where there is no lack of ability, opportunity, provision or qualifications.
So things you have never done or cannot currently do. God may have assigned for you to do.
We see this throughout the bible, again and again. God asking people to do things, they were not able to do. Things they did not have the strength to do. Things they did not have the intelligence to know how to do or the provision to do them.
It just took a choice from them to say yes ! Then these incredibly impossible roles, tasks and purposes. Were all fulfilled by them, because of His miraculous power, working through them.
I think one of the best scriptures to highlight this is
Ephesians 3:20
Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.
The Lord identified this would be one of the most important things, we will see through Encounter Centre !
People fully equipped with the spirit of the Lord. With the full understanding of why and what He has anointed them for !
So do you want to find out what’s on your list ?
Challenge Time
Spend time with the Lord in praise and worship or in rest, Now ask the Father the following questions and write down His answer .
- Father what is the key role you have anointed and appointed me for in this world ?
- Father what is the key tasks you have anointed and appointed me for in this world ?
- Father what is the key purpose you have anointed and appointed me for in this world ?
- Now if you want choose to say ‘yes’ to all you have been given. Pray a prayer like this “Father I thank you for revealing to me my key role,task and purpose in this world. What you knitted me together in my mother’s womb for ! Today I choose to pick up all that you have reveal to me. Father let it be according to Your word Amen
- If you are not sure about what you have received, ask Him for confirmation. As He is so good and longing to reveal and start co labouring with you . He will confirm His word.
Father I thank You, You are so good.
I know Your will has always been and always will be.
To work through Your people.
To accomplish seemly impossible roles, tasks and purposes, through them. So that Your Glory can be clearly seen and fill the earth.
Thank You, for revealing today, the key role, task and purpose.
You created for each person who reads this message to fulfil through You.
Help them to fully understand and achieve, all You have created them for.
So on that day, when they meet with You.
They hear those words ‘Well done faithful servant, come and share in the Fathers Happiness’
We ask all this in Jesus name Amen
