Over last few weeks I sat with the Lord reading His word, and He took me to the story of David (1 Samuel 20), where David is sharing with Johnathon about Saul’s urge to kill him. I read this verse again and again, for it was like the Lord saying “Do you see what I see and what I am saying?”
And one morning this line spoke to my spirit 1 Samuel 20:2
‘Indeed, my father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me.’
Suddenly I knew what the Lord was saying it was a reflection in the verse of His question to me .
Indeed, my father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me.
Do you think this same verse revels a truth about our Heavenly Father?
Could it read the following way?
Indeed, my Heavenly Father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me.
Well I believe so because why would our loving Father withhold anything we need? (From His goodness to His provision, if you have not read this message here is the Link to read it https://www.encounterministries.org.nz/uncategorized/from-his-goodness-to-his-provision/ (https://www.encounterministries.org.nz/uncategorized/from-his-goodness-to-his-provision/) )
We see verses like the following:
“This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah”: (Matthew 12:17) or “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.” (Matthew 8:17). Prophecies are foretelling and forth telling, they are the word of God that comes to pass according to Isaiah 55:10.
But there are times when they don’t, this is not the Lord’s fault, but the one who receives the word chooses through freewill not to partner with it.
He provides the word, people and provision, so His part is absolute and complete. But you choose out of His love for you, the option or choice which defines what the outcome will be.
As a prophet in my early years I would get very nervous, when releasing His word to a person. Especially when the weight was so great ( for example like one morning when the Lord ask me to ring a man and tell him if he did not rest he would be dead in 3 days). Those who want to be a prophet do you really? For the responsibility of the role can only be truly understood, and carried on the shoulders of Jesus, who truly reveals the Father.
This is why it says in Ephesians 4
Jesus appointed some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
He appointed them with His authority to handle the responsibility and weight of the role or some call it the office. Sometimes I get asked who told you or confirmed you to be a prophet. My answer is simply Jesus did through His audible voice.
Over the years this was confirmed also by many senior pastors and countless people this gift has helped. But all these people, remarkable and gifted as they are, cannotbring about an appointment of the role of one of the 5 fold ministry. They may see it, call it out, confirm it, But only Jesus has the authority to appoint this position, as the Holy Spirit also has the authority to release the gifts of the spirit of believers seen in
1 Corinthians 12.
I intended to release a message in the comings weeks if the Lord allows me to on my journey towards and being called into this calling as a prophet, as just maybe it will help others young apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to discover and accept their call to be who Jesus called them to become.
So let’s get back to the topic today, that your Heavenly Father will do nothing either great or small without first telling you. Why is it that life often seems like we’re walking blind through it? I believe it comes down to learning to understand how the Lord speaks and reveals these precious gems of what He is doing and about to do. Jesus was the greatest example of this He spent so much time with His Father that He was able to say:
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:7 (NKJV).
Let’s pick up the final part next time with focusing on Phillip and his wondering to Jesus.
Challenge Time: Grab your journal and space to be with the Lord, record all He says.
1. Lord how do I see? Now Lord how do You see?
2. Lord show me, where I am walking blind?
3. Lord what You want to do with my blindness?
4. If You want that tell the Lord and lay it down to Him and pick up His eye sight, perspective and vision because He loves you so much and only wants the best for you. Thank Him for His vision, perspective and sight to see as He does and for His never stopping embracing love for you His child.
5. Praise Him, He is worthy of all worship, praise and adoration.
Let’s pray
Father God, thank You for this gem in David’s story “that my Father will do nothing either great or small without first telling me” we are in awe that You would choose to involve us and give us heads up to Your plans, Your ways and Your sight, that is what relationship is, that You choose us. Thank You for new sight, perspective and vision as we trust in You and wait on You just like Jesus did You meet us and share Your heart with us. We love You in Jesus name. Amen.
