Are we Adaptable to Change? Part 2

Last time we looked into the thought of What an amazing opportunity to change the way you do things in this area of your relationship. To see this area go to a new level of fulfilment for both of you” and Joshua 1:7-8 where we saw the keys to embracing change takes: courageous thoughts and obedience, determination, strength, declaration and constant review of His promise.

Right, let’s begin the final part.

Along with Joshua’s words, Paul too writes carefully and well on being open to change, in letters to the people or church of Ephesus and Rome.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (TPT)

“And He has taught you to let go of the lifestyle of the ancient man, the old self – life, which was corrupted by sinful and deceitful desires that spring from delusions. Now it’s time to be made new by every revelation that’s been given to you. And to be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ-within as your new life and live in union with Him! For God has re-created you all over again in his perfect righteousness, and you now belong to Him in the realm of true holiness”.

Romans 12:2 (TPT)

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes”.

Here we see there are things in life we can change and things we cannot change!

Like, we can’t change how much the Lord LOVES US! It’s unconditional! But we can change how pleased He is with us.

We may not be able to change others or the whole world, but we have the free will to make changes in ourselves (especially with the Lord’s help)

I love this amazing saying by an Unknown Monk 1100 A.D.

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.

When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world”.

Selah! If we will embrace and be open to change when it comes into our lives, then we will be an overcomer and a true witness of Christ. Isn’t this Jesus’ story?

Let me end with a promise from Father, for all who choose to embrace change:

Isaiah 43:19 (TPT)

“I am doing something brand new, something unheard of.

Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Don’t you perceive it?

I will make a way in the wilderness, and open up flowing streams in the desert”.

Firstly, do you want this? An amazing opportunity to change the way you do things in areas of your relationships and lives, so you see these areas go to a NEW LEVEL OF FUFILMENT for you and all connected to you. If so let’s get real, vulnerable and transparent before the Lord first and see how He leads us into greater freedom and wholeness.

Challenge time: Grab some space, your journal and be with the Lord to record all He says, linger and take your time asking and listening as He leads.

  1. Lord, how and where am I adaptable, and open to change in my life?
  2. Lord, where and what areas in my life are You are inviting me to be open to change, and to embrace Your way for them?
  3. Lord, with these areas You’ve shown me, what does Your way look like?
  4. Lord, would You give me a verse to meditate on and apply so I can walk in this NEW you’re inviting me to?
  5. Declaration – Lord, I’m willing to adapt change, and want to see these areas (say what He said) change in my life, for them to go to a new level of fulfilment. I believe You can do this and want to do this for and in me. Today I partner with You and lay down these areas of lack, pain, hurt (say what He said) and pick up Your way for each of them, so they will flourish and be testimony of Your power in me.
  6. Praise Him, Give Thanks, Worship who God is and declare His Faithfulness, Goodness.

Father thank You for this remarkable message. Will You help us to be open to embrace change, and be adaptable in the world, our marriage, our ministries and our personal life, each and every day so that You are seen and glorified. In Jesus name. Amen
